Q&A
28 August 2009 in Production UpdatesBeen seeing tons of posts all over the internet. Very exciting! Which reminds me, welcome German gamers! There are a whole lot of you. Wow.
Just to answer a few quick things I’ve seen here and there on the net:
Q: Are you going to finish this thing?
A: Yes! I am making progress fast, this is one of the most enjoyable endeavors I’ve ever take on, and I will most definitely finish it.
Q: Will LucasArts come down on you like a ton of bricks and crush this thing into oblivion?
A: I don’t know! Maybe! I certain hope not. The fact is, there are literally a zillion of similar fan videos, fiction, and even fan games based on Star Wars and many other LucasArts titles, so I have my fingers crossed for leniency. Of course if they contact me and tell me “OK, you can proceed, but you’re going to have to do things this way…” I will do my best to comply with their guidelines so the game can still be a reality. That’s the best I can do. Hopefully, they’ll take one look at my little lo-res, ancient, SCUMM-like fan game, shrug, and go deal with more important matters. We can only hope.
Q: Did you use IndyJava to make this?
A: Nope, I am using the awesome engine created by Chris Jones, called Adventure Game Studio. It’s a really robust, powerful tool. If you’re a closet game designer at heart, you should definitely check it out at http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/.
Q: Fantasysci5 finally asked the question I’ve been waiting for: “Is Chewie in it?”
A: Good question! He will definitely be a part of the series, but may not make his debut until the second installment. Rest assured though, Chewie will show up!
Q: Hey those were some goofy dialogue options in that video, will the game be that goofy? And will it also be full voice like that?
A: The video was basically a joke. The game will have straight faced dialogue. I am sorry to say though, I will not be casting and recording dialogue for all the characters. It would be cool, yes, but just too ambitious for the scale of game I’m trying to create. (then again, if there’s enough demand, it could always be a special edition feature down the road.)
Thanks for keeping up with the project! I will have more photos soon!

I really hope that Lucasarts either never find out about this or allow you to continue with the project because, from what I have seen, it looks awesome! I am really looking forward to playing this game as I am sure many other Star Wars, Lucasarts and adventure game fans are! I can’t believe it hasn’t already been done or thought of! Please feel free take your time on this game, I think the final version will be great and thankyou for doing this, I will keep a watchful eye on your progress!
Hey, can we shout about this project to the world? Or do you wanna lay low until it’s finished so that Lucasarts don’t find out?
Hi!
Love the idea, and appreciate the effort. Are you planning to do the entire thing solo, or have you got a forum thread where you get help from etc? I’ve got a bunch of spare time, and, though I have no experience with Adventure Game Studio, I’m sure I can learn quickly. I’d love to see this game done soon.
I’m sure LucasArts will find it easily. Lets just all cross our fingers that they are cool with it. The fans really seem to want it to see the light of day, and I know I do as well. Thanks guys!
I found out about this project from Kotaku. It sound awesome and I’m looking forward to playing it once it comes out.
BTW, I noticed one of the earlier posts mentioned the Alamo Drafthouse. Are you from Austin by any chance? I’m from Austin and I’m just wondering.
I love your idea and i wish i have money to support you!!
Thank you for your dedication and work!!
I Hope to play it soon.
I did live in Austin for a while, while I worked at Origin. Gotta love the Alamo!
